: : why i feel pessimistic about the place i work at : : a year and a half ago, we occupied 3 offices in SF we got rid of the little one and then there were 2 we got rid of the big warehouse and then there was 1 (with 2 floors) we got rid of one of the floors and then there was only 1 now we fit in half of the floor and the other half is supposedly off-limits after all the layoffs, the operations team is now so short-staffed that we get daily emails from the front-desk person pleaing for other people to sit up there to answer phones so that she may go out and get some lunch. instead of fixing the soda fountain we've had for years, they're now replacing it with a coin-operated vending machine. if you look closely at all the sodas that are 'reserved for clients', they've all expired. there're more wine glasses than coffee mugs in the office. no more free coffee.
