an interesting fact to start the new year:
Silbo Gomero is a whistled language that is a rare and endangered surrogate of Spanish, used by shepherds on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands for communication over long distances on difficult terrain.
i think that's so neat.
in other news, i've started my new rotation at ucsf, even though classes at berkeley don't start for another week or so. i like the new lab space, although we'll be moving to an even newer building in march or april. it's a small lab but everyone's pretty nice. i get to do so many experiments these next few months - get ready to hear me complain about the constant lab work!
