: : spring break 2005! : :

spring break 2005 has been condensed into one day. t and i went to the SF zoo, thus continuing our tradition of watching animals during vacation. ucsf gives students free passes to the zoo, and you know what? free lions and tigers are actually 10x better than $15 lions and tigers.

after the zoo, we went to this afghani restaurant in north beach. yum. it's been a while since i've eaten a novel type of cuisine, so every bite felt like an adventure. afghani food reminded me of indian, pakistani, middle eastern, and mediterranean food, which makes sense given its geographical location. t and i started talking about how in asia, you can see this very gradual change of cuisines going from east to west. like, how flavors and ingredients of one country influence nearby countries (e.g. japanese and chinese influences in korean food, korean influences in the bolder flavors of northern chinese food compared to southern chinese food). i just think that's so interesting, so much so that i bought a book on amazon about it.

so that's my day o' spring break. the rest has been spent mostly working. oh but i made my first fruit tart ever, and i'm just so proud of it.

oh and lastly, have you heard that craigslist is now giving you the option of transmitting your postings into outer space? because craigslist won an ebay auction? who says collaboration is dead?
