back from socal, where t and i spent a couple of days on a friend's dad's sailboat! we drove down thursday and arrived at 2am. after navigating through some super-industrial areas to get to the port of LA, we made it onto the boat and slept to the rocking of the boat. by the time we woke up, we were already out in open water, heading towards catalina island.
we moored near a boy scouts camp for the next two nights and idled away the days snorkeling through the kelp forests, rowing boats, reading and napping on a quiet stretch of pebbly beach or on the deck of the boat, and making food in the tiny kitchen on the boat. we grilled salmon and steaks and short ribs for dinners using a cute little boat grill and made bacon and eggs for breakfasts. plus lots of beers and wines, of course.
all in all, a perfectly relaxing weekend. on our way back to LA, many flocks(?) of dolphins even got curious about our boat and came by to swim alongside us for a bit.
